22nd Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers

Major General M K Jayawardena RSP USP ndu was appointed Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers on 04 December 2022. He is a proud product of Royal College, Colombo. He joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet with the Intake 30 on 26 July 1988. After successful completion of Basic Military Training from the Pakistan Military Academy and Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and was posted to the prestigious Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers on 09th June 1990.

He has held all the appointments in Operation, Administration, Logistic and Training required to be held by a career officer in the Army.

He was promoted to the rank of Major General on 18 May 2021 and appointed as the 25th General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division and subsequently became the General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division. He was appointed as the 22nd Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps on 12th October 2022 and eventually became the 22nd Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers since 04th December 2022. Presently he is serving as the Chief Field Engineer since 11th June 2022.
